South Carolina Baseball Leagues

Every adult baseball league we track in South Carolina: what each one actually is, where it plays, and who to talk to. Written from the leagues’ own words where they still keep words somewhere, and honestly labelled where they do not.

  • Charleston
  • Est. 2023
  • 50+
  • MSBL/MABL

Charleston MSBL was founded in 2023 and its domain is cmabl.com, which is the other acronym, and we separately carry a Charleston Men's Baseball League on Facebook and a Low Country Men's League Baseball. Three Charleston records.

Charleston is a small city with an outsized share of people who moved there deliberately, and its adult population has grown fast enough in the last decade to support more baseball than it used to. Three leagues, one of them three years old, is what that growth looks like.

We could not read the specifics. The Low Country entry is the one with an about page.

  • Charleston
  • MSBL/MABL

The Charleston Men's Baseball League keeps a Facebook profile, and it is the third of our three Charleston records alongside an MSBL affiliate founded in 2023 and a Lowcountry league.

Three leagues in a metro of eight hundred thousand is reasonable coverage, and the question is whether they are three or whether our records have caught one operation under several names. The names here are generic enough that either is plausible.

We cannot read the page. Anybody playing adult baseball in Charleston could sort out three entries with one paragraph.

  • Columbia
  • MSBL/MABL

Columbia MABL/MSBL pointed at a Pointstreak address, which now forwards to Stack Sports, making it the eighth league in this directory to lose its front door in that acquisition.

Columbia is the state capital and home to South Carolina's baseball programme, which has won two national championships and draws crowds that would embarrass some professional clubs. The city has fields, coaching, and an unusually deep bench of people who played at a high level.

The league itself may well be fine. Its address is not. Send us where it lives now and we will point at it.

  • Charleston
  • Independent

Low Country Men's League Baseball is one of three Charleston-area listings in our records, and the only one whose address points at an actual about page rather than a homepage or a login.

The Lowcountry is the coastal plain of South Carolina and Georgia, salt marsh and tidal creek country, and baseball there is played in humidity that arrives in May and does not leave until October. It is also where the sport's segregated history is closest to the surface: the Charleston area had thriving Black amateur and semi-pro baseball for generations before integration.

We could not extract the divisions or the fee from the page we were given. Send them.

Common questions

  • How many adult baseball leagues are there in South Carolina?

High Cheese currently tracks 4 active adult leagues in South Carolina, carrying 0 teams between them. That is what we can stand behind today, not a claim that nothing else exists. Leagues form in somebody's driveway every spring and tell no one for two years.

  • How do I join a league in South Carolina?

Make a profile and turn the free agent switch on. That is the whole ask. Managers across South Carolina search this pool the week their shortstop discovers a work trip every Saturday through August, and they find whoever put themselves in it. You list what you throw, where you play, how far you will drive. The invitation comes to you. The other route is emailing an address nobody has opened since the last board handover, then waiting.

  • When does the season run in South Carolina?

Season lengths differ by league and are listed with each one below where the league states them. Broadly, amateur baseball is a late-spring-to-early-autumn arrangement, compressed at the northern end of the map into whatever window the weather grudgingly concedes.

  • Which South Carolina towns have leagues?

Leagues on this page are based in Charleston and Columbia. Most draw players from well outside their listed town, so a drive is normal and nobody will think less of you for it.
