Delaware MSBL carries a formal name that tells you something before any of the baseball does: the Michael K. Ingram II Adult Baseball League. Somebody who mattered to this league is not here any more, and the league is named for him rather than for the state or the sponsor.

Eight teams out of Newark: the Blue Demons, Expos, Minutemen, Thunder, Vandals, New Castle Knights, Gildea's Raiders, and NKS/Bud Light Brewers. It is a wood bat league and says why in a sentence better than most professional marketing: nothing feels or sounds quite like a nine-inch round ball being struck squarely with a piece of perfectly carved lumber.

One caution on the entry. The most recent dated content we could read on the site refers to a July 12 start from the 2020 season, so the page may be some years behind the league. If you play in this one, tell us what this year actually looks like.

Common questions

  • How many adult baseball leagues are there in Delaware?

High Cheese currently tracks 1 active adult league in Delaware, carrying 8 teams between them. That is what we can stand behind today, not a claim that nothing else exists. Leagues form in somebody's driveway every spring and tell no one for two years.

  • How do I join a league in Delaware?

Make a profile and turn the free agent switch on. That is the whole ask. Managers across Delaware search this pool the week their shortstop discovers a work trip every Saturday through August, and they find whoever put themselves in it. You list what you throw, where you play, how far you will drive. The invitation comes to you. The other route is emailing an address nobody has opened since the last board handover, then waiting.

  • When does the season run in Delaware?

Season lengths differ by league and are listed with each one below where the league states them. Broadly, amateur baseball is a late-spring-to-early-autumn arrangement, compressed at the northern end of the map into whatever window the weather grudgingly concedes.

  • Which Delaware towns have leagues?

Leagues on this page are based in Wilmington. Most draw players from well outside their listed town, so a drive is normal and nobody will think less of you for it.
