Pennsylvania Baseball Leagues

Every adult baseball league we track in Pennsylvania: what each one actually is, where it plays, and who to talk to. Written from the leagues’ own words where they still keep words somewhere, and honestly labelled where they do not.

Playing baseball in Pennsylvania

  • Reading
  • MSBL/MABL

Berks County MSBL runs out of Reading, a city that gave its name to a railroad, a Monopoly square, and a great deal of American industrial history before losing most of it.

Reading has one of the highest poverty rates of any mid-sized city in the country and also one of the more devoted minor league followings, the Fightin Phils drawing well at FirstEnergy Stadium year after year. A county MSBL affiliate there is operating in a place where baseball matters and money is tight, which shapes what a league can charge.

We could not extract the divisions, fee or season from the site. Send them and we will print them.

  • Doylestown
  • Est. 1991
  • 28+, 35+, and 45+
  • MSBL/MABL

Bux-Mont MSBL has been running since 1991 out of Doylestown, and the name compresses Bucks and Montgomery counties, the two affluent suburban counties north of Philadelphia.

Regional portmanteaus like this are a Pennsylvania habit and a useful one: the league is telling you its catchment in six letters. Doylestown sits at the middle of it, far enough from the city that a Philadelphia league would be a real drive.

Thirty-five years. We could not pull the divisions or the season off the page. This is the third of five Philadelphia-area listings we hold and none of them have yielded a fee yet.

  • West Chester
  • Est. 1989
  • 25+ and 35+
  • MSBL/MABL

The Delaware County Men's Senior Baseball League has run since 1989, and delcomsbl.com is a frameset whose only content is a forward into LeagueLineup. The address answers and contains nothing.

Delaware County is the ring of older suburbs immediately west of Philadelphia, dense and industrial in its river towns and leafy further out, and it is one of those places with enough population to sustain a league entirely within its own borders. Our record names it Del Co/Ches Co, taking in Chester County next door as well.

Thirty-seven years. The frameset was probably built early in that run and has been quietly forwarding ever since. Send us the divisions and the fields.

  • Philadelphia
  • Est. 2000
  • 8 teams
  • 40+
  • MSBL/MABL

Greater Philadelphia MSBL was founded in 2000, and gpmabl.com now presents a certificate belonging to ddk.com, an entirely unrelated business. The domain has changed hands.

That is a harder failure than an expired certificate. An expired certificate means nobody renewed. A certificate for somebody else's company means the name was released and bought, and the league's old address now belongs to a firm with no connection to baseball. Every historical link points at them.

Philadelphia carries three listings in our records. This is the one that has lost its name outright. Twenty-six years of a league, and the address is somebody else's now. Send us where it lives.

  • Allentown
  • Other

The Lehigh Valley Baseball League is our second Lehigh Valley record, and its address points at a directors page rather than a league homepage, which means we are linking to a list of officers rather than to anything a prospective player wants.

That is our error. Somebody added the URL that was in front of them, and a directors page is what LeagueLineup shows when you land on the wrong tab.

Whether this is a distinct league from Lehigh Valley MABL/MSBL, founded 1989, or the same one recorded twice, we cannot say. Allentown and Northampton are eight miles apart. Two separate leagues is entirely plausible and so is one.

  • Northampton
  • Est. 1989
  • 18+, 45+, and 58+
  • MSBL/MABL

Lehigh Valley MABL/MSBL dates to 1989 and sits on a LeagueLineup account whose name spells out both sanctioning bodies in full, which is either thoroughness or an unwillingness to choose.

We also carry a Lehigh Valley Baseball League at a directors page on the same platform, so the valley has two entries in our records and they may or may not be the same operation.

The Lehigh Valley is Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton, three cities built on steel and cement that have spent forty years becoming something else. Bethlehem Steel's blast furnaces still stand over the town as a preserved ruin. A league founded in 1989 started as that collapse was still under way.

  • Philadelphia
  • 6 teams
  • Other

The Liberty Bell Men's Baseball League keeps its presence on a Facebook profile we cannot read past.

It is the fifth Philadelphia-area listing in our records, alongside the Amateur Baseball League, Greater Philadelphia MSBL, Del Co/Ches Co and Bux-Mont, and the name is the most Philadelphian of the five by a distance.

Philadelphia is one of the densest adult baseball markets in the country and one of the least legible in this directory: of those five listings, one has lost its domain to another company, one is a frameset, one is a LeagueLineup page we could not parse, and this one is behind a login. Somebody in that city could fix a great deal with one message.

  • Harrisburg
  • Est. 1992
  • 5 teams
  • 25+
  • MSBL/MABL

Pennsylvania Mid-State MSBL has run since 1992 out of Harrisburg, on a LeagueLineup account named simply pambl, which suggests it was among the earlier Pennsylvania leagues to register there.

Mid-state is the correct description for Harrisburg in a way that mid-state rarely is elsewhere. Pennsylvania is a wide state with a large city at each end and a great deal of ridge and valley country in between, and the capital sits in the middle of the part that belongs to neither.

Thirty-four years of covering that middle. We could not extract the divisions or the fields. Send them.

  • Philadelphia
  • Independent

The Philadelphia Amateur Baseball League plays entirely on Sundays and defines itself by two negatives printed on its own front page: not a beer league, and not softball.

Stating what you are not is a risky way to introduce yourself and in this case an efficient one. Every man considering adult baseball at thirty-five has both of those alternatives available and cheaper, and a league that rules them out in its first sentence has told its audience exactly who it wants.

The 2026 calendar includes a golf outing and a trip to a Phillies game, which are the two social events every league in this directory eventually organises. It is covered by the Philadelphia Baseball Review, meaning somebody outside the league writes about it. Contact runs through Instagram and Facebook.

  • Pittsburgh
  • 12 teams
  • Independent

The Pittsburgh Adult Baseball League is hosted on base44.app, which is an AI application builder rather than a traditional website host. That makes it the most recently built site in this entire directory, and possibly the first league page assembled by describing it to a machine.

There is something worth noting there without being sour about it. For thirty years amateur leagues have depended on somebody's nephew who knew HTML, then on hosted platforms that got acquired and shut down, then on Facebook. A tool that lets a league commissioner produce a working site in an afternoon solves a real problem that has broken a dozen entries on this site.

Whether it lasts longer than Pointstreak did is the question. Pittsburgh carries two listings in our records, this and a NABA affiliate.

  • Pittsburgh
  • NABA

Pittsburgh NABA sits on a hosted teams page that refuses non-browser requests.

Pittsburgh is a serious baseball city with an unserious recent baseball history, and the amateur game there has a longer continuous record than the professional one has had a good decade. The city's fields sit in river valleys and on hilltops with the kind of outfield slopes that flatland leagues never have to think about.

We hold two Pittsburgh listings, this and an adult league on a newly built site. Between them we can tell you neither has published a fee we can read. Send us the divisions.

  • Ardmore
  • Other

The South Ardmore Baseball League exists in our records as a Facebook group, which is one step further from public than a page: groups can be closed entirely, and even open ones are poorly indexed.

Ardmore is on the Main Line, the string of wealthy townships running west from Philadelphia along the old Pennsylvania Railroad. South Ardmore is a specific neighbourhood within it, historically the part where the Black community that served the Main Line estates settled, and a league carrying that name is naming somewhere much smaller than a suburb.

A neighbourhood league organised through a Facebook group is about as local as organised baseball gets. We cannot read it, and it may not want to be read, which is a legitimate position for a group to take.

  • Erie
  • Est. 1998
  • 55+, 65+, and 70+
  • MSBL/MABL

Tri State MSBL has been running since 1998 out of Erie, and its site renders a heading and nothing else, the content never arriving as text a directory can read.

Erie sits in the corner where Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York meet, which is what the tri-state refers to. A league there is drawing from three states by necessity rather than ambition: Erie is a hundred miles from Cleveland, ninety from Buffalo, and a very long way from Pittsburgh, so the natural catchment crosses two borders before it fills a division.

The lake makes for a short season and a great deal of snow. Twenty-eight years of working around both. Send us the divisions and we will carry them.

Before you ask

Common questions

  • How many adult baseball leagues are there in Pennsylvania?

High Cheese currently tracks 13 active adult leagues in Pennsylvania, carrying 31 teams between them. That is what we can stand behind today, not a claim that nothing else exists. Leagues form in somebody's driveway every spring and tell no one for two years.

  • How do I join a league in Pennsylvania?

Make a profile and turn the free agent switch on. That is the whole ask. Managers across Pennsylvania search this pool the week their shortstop discovers a work trip every Saturday through August, and they find whoever put themselves in it. You list what you throw, where you play, how far you will drive. The invitation comes to you. The other route is emailing an address nobody has opened since the last board handover, then waiting.

  • When does the season run in Pennsylvania?

Season lengths differ by league and are listed with each one below where the league states them. Broadly, amateur baseball is a late-spring-to-early-autumn arrangement, compressed at the northern end of the map into whatever window the weather grudgingly concedes.

  • Which Pennsylvania towns have leagues?

Leagues on this page are based in Allentown, Ardmore, Doylestown, Erie, Harrisburg, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Reading, and West Chester. Most draw players from well outside their listed town, so a drive is normal and nobody will think less of you for it.
