  • Cedar Rapids
  • Independent

The Eastern Iowa Adult Baseball League keeps its own domain at eiabl.com, with sections for teams, schedules, scores, standings and rules. The homepage itself is navigation and nothing else, so none of those details reach us as readable text.

The site credits its builder, BG Tech Repair, in the footer. That single line tells you how most amateur baseball infrastructure actually gets made: a local business that fixes computers also built the league's website, probably at a discount, probably because somebody's brother plays.

Cedar Rapids sits at the top of a corridor running down through Iowa City that has a serious baseball culture. Between this and Mid-Iowa's twenty-three teams in Des Moines, the state is better served than its population would suggest.

  • Des Moines
  • Est. 1993
  • 23 teams
  • 18+, 30+, 40+, 48+, and 60+
  • MSBL/MABL

Mid-Iowa MSBL has been going since 1993 and carries twenty-three teams out of Des Moines. Its site answers browsers and returns a 403 to us, so the divisions, fields and fee sit behind a door we cannot open.

Twenty-three teams in a metro of about seven hundred thousand is a high participation rate, higher per head than most of the big-city leagues in this directory. Iowa takes its baseball seriously at every level, from the high schools that play a summer season nearly alone among the states, through the college programmes, and out into leagues like this one.

Thirty-three years and no sign of shrinking. Send us the specifics and we will print them.

Before you ask

Common questions

  • How many adult baseball leagues are there in Iowa?

High Cheese currently tracks 2 active adult leagues in Iowa, carrying 23 teams between them. That is what we can stand behind today, not a claim that nothing else exists. Leagues form in somebody's driveway every spring and tell no one for two years.

  • How do I join a league in Iowa?

Make a profile and turn the free agent switch on. That is the whole ask. Managers across Iowa search this pool the week their shortstop discovers a work trip every Saturday through August, and they find whoever put themselves in it. You list what you throw, where you play, how far you will drive. The invitation comes to you. The other route is emailing an address nobody has opened since the last board handover, then waiting.

  • When does the season run in Iowa?

Season lengths differ by league and are listed with each one below where the league states them. Broadly, amateur baseball is a late-spring-to-early-autumn arrangement, compressed at the northern end of the map into whatever window the weather grudgingly concedes.

  • Which Iowa towns have leagues?

Leagues on this page are based in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. Most draw players from well outside their listed town, so a drive is normal and nobody will think less of you for it.
