North Carolina Baseball Leagues

Every adult baseball league we track in North Carolina: what each one actually is, where it plays, and who to talk to. Written from the leagues’ own words where they still keep words somewhere, and honestly labelled where they do not.

Playing baseball in North Carolina

  • Asheville
  • 9 teams
  • Other

The Asheville Adult Baseball League's address points into the Western North Carolina Youth Soccer Association's website, at a numbered tab deep inside it.

That is not the error it appears to be. In smaller markets the organisation with the fields, the insurance and the administrative capacity is often a youth sports body, and an adult baseball league frequently exists as a page inside somebody else's operation rather than as a thing of its own. It is a practical arrangement and a fragile one: the league's entire web presence depends on a soccer association's content management system continuing to number its tabs the same way.

Asheville sits in the mountains, and the season there is shaped by elevation as much as latitude. Send us the divisions and we will carry them.

  • Raleigh
  • Other

Carolina Men's Baseball is a recreational 18+ league playing around Wilmington and Jacksonville, with teams including the Cape Fear River Ducks, Northern Lights and Brew Crew. Our record files it under Raleigh, which is two hours inland and looks like a data error rather than a description.

The interesting part is the Carolina Kraken, a select team drawn from across the league that plays the USAB World Series down at Myrtle Beach, with a 35+ side entering as well. That is a structure worth noting: a recreational league that also assembles an all-star team to represent it in national competition gives its better players somewhere to go without having to leave.

Jacksonville is next to Camp Lejeune, which means a steady supply of Marines cycling through, playing a season or two, and shipping out. A recreational league in that catchment is permanently rebuilding rosters. [email protected].

  • Raleigh
  • Est. 1988
  • 31 teams
  • 18+, 32+, 50+, and 60+
  • MSBL/MABL

Central North Carolina MSBL has run since 1988 and carries thirty-one teams across four divisions: 18+, 32+, 50+, and one simply called Classic. The 2026 season opened March 30 and runs through August.

The 18+ division alone holds eleven clubs, and its team list is worth the visit: the Brews, Blue Jays, RDU Bulldogs, Cardinals, Flying Squirrels, Raleigh Oaks, Rattlers, Tigers, Tri-Sox, Trash Pandas, and a side called the Calf Fries, which is a Carolina way of naming a team after something most people would decline to eat. The Classic division fields the Astros, Braves, Bulls, Cobras, Colt 45s, Dodgers and Red Sox.

Games run across a wide sweep of the state, from Max Abbott Middle School in Fayetteville up through Lee County, Cleveland, Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Holly Springs high schools, plus Joe Davidson Park, Bond Park, Lions Park and Chamber Field in Lillington. Two teams, the Alamance Giants and Team Ghost, appear in both the 32+ and 50+ divisions, which is a club running sides at two ages rather than a scheduling error.

  • Charlotte
  • Independent

The Charlotte Adult Baseball League is at cabl-usa.org, and the domain choice is worth a moment: an amateur league in one American city registering a .org with USA in the name is either aiming at something bigger than Charlotte or was simply working with whatever was available in the year it registered.

Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing metros in the country, full of people who arrived in the last decade from somewhere with a longer baseball tradition. That is ideal conditions for an adult league and hard conditions for keeping one stable, because the same mobility that fills a roster empties it.

We could not extract usable detail. Send us the divisions and the season.

  • Greenville
  • 11 teams
  • Independent

The East Carolina Adult Baseball League plays out of Greenville, home of East Carolina University and one of the better college baseball programmes in the country.

That matters for an adult league in a way it does not elsewhere. A town with a serious college programme has fields, has coaching, has a population that understands the game, and has a steady annual output of players who were good enough to be recruited somewhere and are now finished. Greenville produces more of those than a city its size otherwise would.

We could not read usable detail off the site. If you run this one, the divisions and the fields would make this entry worth something.

  • Raleigh
  • Roy Hobbs Baseball

The NCSC Adult Baseball League sits on a hosted site that refuses us, and its name unpacks as North Carolina and South Carolina, a league defined by spanning the state line rather than sitting inside one.

Our record places it in Raleigh, which is a long way from South Carolina, so either the league reaches much further than its base suggests or the name refers to something else entirely. We are recording the ambiguity rather than resolving it.

This is the sixth of seven North Carolina listings and the fourth we cannot read. The state has a great deal of adult baseball and remarkably little of it is legible from outside.

  • Greensboro
  • Independent

Triad Adult Baseball serves Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, the three cities that give the region its name, and its site returns a 403 to anything that is not a browser.

The Triad is one of those American regions defined by having three near-equal centres rather than one dominant city, and that shapes a league differently than a metro with a clear middle. There is no obvious home field, no natural centre of gravity, and a schedule has to spread itself across three cities that have spent a century competing with each other.

North Carolina carries seven listings in our records, more than any other southern state. Send us the divisions and the fields and this one will read like the rest of them.

Before you ask

Common questions

  • How many adult baseball leagues are there in North Carolina?

High Cheese currently tracks 7 active adult leagues in North Carolina, carrying 51 teams between them. That is what we can stand behind today, not a claim that nothing else exists. Leagues form in somebody's driveway every spring and tell no one for two years.

  • How do I join a league in North Carolina?

Make a profile and turn the free agent switch on. That is the whole ask. Managers across North Carolina search this pool the week their shortstop discovers a work trip every Saturday through August, and they find whoever put themselves in it. You list what you throw, where you play, how far you will drive. The invitation comes to you. The other route is emailing an address nobody has opened since the last board handover, then waiting.

  • When does the season run in North Carolina?

Season lengths differ by league and are listed with each one below where the league states them. Broadly, amateur baseball is a late-spring-to-early-autumn arrangement, compressed at the northern end of the map into whatever window the weather grudgingly concedes.

  • Which North Carolina towns have leagues?

Leagues on this page are based in Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, and Raleigh. Most draw players from well outside their listed town, so a drive is normal and nobody will think less of you for it.
