New Jersey Baseball Leagues

Every adult baseball league we track in New Jersey: what each one actually is, where it plays, and who to talk to. Written from the leagues’ own words where they still keep words somewhere, and honestly labelled where they do not.

Our record for the Amateur Baseball Association points at allstarteamstats.com, which is a statistics platform rather than a league. The name in our database is generic to the point of being unusable, and the link goes to a service.

That combination means this entry tells a reader nothing at all: no city we can trust, no governing body, no season. It is the weakest record in this directory and we would rather say so than dress it up.

If you run an association by this name in New Jersey, we would genuinely like to know what it is. As it stands we are carrying a name and a link to a scorekeeping product.

  • Forked River
  • Est. 2002
  • 7 teams
  • 21+
  • MSBL/MABL

Glory Days MSBL was founded in 2002 out of Forked River, on the Jersey Shore in Ocean County.

The name is a Springsteen reference and there is no plausible reading in which it is not. Glory Days is a song about exactly the men this league is for, a former high school pitcher and a former ballplayer's wife sitting in a bar talking about who they used to be, and it is either the most self-aware league name in this directory or the least. Twenty-four years on, presumably nobody minds either way.

We could not extract the divisions or the fee. Forked River is pronounced with two syllables in the first word, which visitors get wrong immediately.

  • Newark
  • 151 teams
  • Independent

The New Jersey Amateur Baseball League claims the whole state in its name, which in New Jersey is a bolder claim than the size of the place suggests: the north looks to New York and the south to Philadelphia, and very little crosses the middle.

We hold five New Jersey listings and three of them are filed under Newark, including this one, which is more likely a data default than a description. A statewide league headquartered anywhere would still be fighting that north-south divide.

We could not extract divisions, fields or fees from the site. Send them and we will carry them.

Play at the Plate New Jersey keeps its presence on a Facebook profile created recently enough that its numeric identifier is among the highest in our records.

The name describes the single most contested moment in baseball, the one where a runner and a catcher arrive at the same place at the same time, and it is a strange and rather good thing to name a league after. It suggests either a league that likes the drama or one named by somebody who had that particular play in mind.

We cannot read the page. New Jersey has five listings and this is the newest of them.

  • Cherry Hill
  • 8 teams
  • 21+, 25+, 35+, 45+, and 52+
  • MSBL/MABL

South New Jersey MABL/MSBL is based in Cherry Hill, which is a Philadelphia suburb in everything but state, eight miles from Center City across the Delaware.

That geography is the whole point of a south Jersey league. Philadelphia has five listings in our records and every one of them is a bridge toll away, so a Camden County league is competing on convenience rather than on quality.

We could not read the divisions or the fee off the page. This is one of five New Jersey records and one of the two with a specific, believable location attached.

Common questions

  • How many adult baseball leagues are there in New Jersey?

High Cheese currently tracks 5 active adult leagues in New Jersey, carrying 166 teams between them. That is what we can stand behind today, not a claim that nothing else exists. Leagues form in somebody's driveway every spring and tell no one for two years.

  • How do I join a league in New Jersey?

Make a profile and turn the free agent switch on. That is the whole ask. Managers across New Jersey search this pool the week their shortstop discovers a work trip every Saturday through August, and they find whoever put themselves in it. You list what you throw, where you play, how far you will drive. The invitation comes to you. The other route is emailing an address nobody has opened since the last board handover, then waiting.

  • When does the season run in New Jersey?

Season lengths differ by league and are listed with each one below where the league states them. Broadly, amateur baseball is a late-spring-to-early-autumn arrangement, compressed at the northern end of the map into whatever window the weather grudgingly concedes.

  • Which New Jersey towns have leagues?

Leagues on this page are based in Cherry Hill, Forked River, and Newark. Most draw players from well outside their listed town, so a drive is normal and nobody will think less of you for it.
