Kentucky Baseball Leagues

Every adult baseball league we track in Kentucky: what each one actually is, where it plays, and who to talk to. Written from the leagues’ own words where they still keep words somewhere, and honestly labelled where they do not.

Playing baseball in Kentucky

  • Lexington
  • Independent

The Central Kentucky Adult Baseball Association keeps a Wix page carrying a league name, a president, a phone number and a copyright notice reading 2022.

Jody Bingham is the president, reachable at [email protected] or 270-763-2105, and in a league this size that is not an administrative detail, it is the entire infrastructure. Somebody's personal email address is the league office.

The 2022 copyright is the part worth flagging. It may mean nothing, since footers go stale on maintained sites all the time, or it may mean the page has not been touched in four years. We carry three other Lexington-area listings and cannot tell you how this one relates to any of them.

  • Lexington
  • MSBL/MABL

Our record for Central Kentucky MABL points at a single Facebook event page rather than a league page, which is the thinnest address in this entire directory. Not a site, not a profile: one event, presumably a registration night or an opening day, captured at some point and recorded as though it were the league's home.

That is our error more than anybody's. Somebody added the link that was available at the time.

Lexington now has four separate listings in our records: this, Lexington Adult Baseball, Central Kentucky Adult Baseball, and a Louisville association up the road. At least two of those four are probably the same organisation. Anybody playing adult baseball in central Kentucky could clear up all four in a paragraph.

  • Louisville
  • Other

The Kentuckiana Baseball Association covers Louisville and the Indiana side of the Ohio River, which is what Kentuckiana means and why the name exists at all. Our record points at the reels section of its Facebook page, which is to say at short vertical videos rather than at anything describing a season.

There is something quietly funny about a directory entry for a baseball league resolving to a feed of clips. It is also a fair reflection of where amateur sport actually documents itself now: the highlight is posted, the schedule is in a group chat, and the website was never built.

Louisville is a river city where the state line runs down the middle of the water and nobody's baseball respects it. Send us a season and a field.

  • Lexington
  • 4 teams
  • Independent

Lexington Adult Baseball was founded in 2010 as an 18+ wood bat league, with teams including the Bombers, Stallions, Warriors and Knights. Its central promise is stated in three words: guaranteed playing time for everyone.

That is a bigger commitment than it sounds, because the league also openly welcomes former minor leaguers, independent league veterans and college players alongside men who have not played in a decade. Guaranteeing innings to everybody in a roster containing an ex-professional means somebody has to sit that ex-professional down, and a league that promises it in writing has decided which of those two players it is actually built for.

A caution on the entry: the site currently lists no upcoming events and its registration forms are marked unavailable, so the league may be between seasons or between administrators. [email protected].

Common questions

  • How many adult baseball leagues are there in Kentucky?

High Cheese currently tracks 4 active adult leagues in Kentucky, carrying 4 teams between them. That is what we can stand behind today, not a claim that nothing else exists. Leagues form in somebody's driveway every spring and tell no one for two years.

  • How do I join a league in Kentucky?

Make a profile and turn the free agent switch on. That is the whole ask. Managers across Kentucky search this pool the week their shortstop discovers a work trip every Saturday through August, and they find whoever put themselves in it. You list what you throw, where you play, how far you will drive. The invitation comes to you. The other route is emailing an address nobody has opened since the last board handover, then waiting.

  • When does the season run in Kentucky?

Season lengths differ by league and are listed with each one below where the league states them. Broadly, amateur baseball is a late-spring-to-early-autumn arrangement, compressed at the northern end of the map into whatever window the weather grudgingly concedes.

  • Which Kentucky towns have leagues?

Leagues on this page are based in Lexington and Louisville. Most draw players from well outside their listed town, so a drive is normal and nobody will think less of you for it.
