The Group Text Had a Good Run.
Adult baseball has never lacked players. It has lacked a way to find them.
For nearly four decades, organizations like MSBL/MABL, NABA, Roy Hobbs Baseball, and a small army of independent leagues have kept adult baseball alive across North America. Held together by stubbornness, borrowed outfields, and a group text that somehow runs a whole league better than most enterprise software ever will.
And still, the community stayed fragmented. Players dig through disconnected league websites, registration forms abandoned somewhere around 2014, and Facebook groups where the last real post was about a doubleheader that got rained out three summers ago. Managers looking for a catcher, a pitcher, or simply nine warm bodies to avoid a forfeit post into the void and hope someone, anyone, is listening.
Too often, the void doesn't post back.
High Cheese exists to remove that friction. Mostly because we got tired of hearing about it.
We are building a national free agent network for adult baseball, and yes, we noticed what that phrase does to anyone who has ever doom refreshed a fantasy app in December.
A player creates one permanent profile: location, positions, experience, availability, done, findable.
A manager hunting for a shortstop can search for an actual shortstop who is actually looking, instead of running down a rumor from the guy who plays third and "knows a guy."
A league can hand a new arrival straight to the team that needs him, instead of watching one more form submission die quietly in an inbox somewhere between spring training and regret.
High Cheese is not here to replace MSBL, NABA, Roy Hobbs, or the independent leagues doing the actual work of running this sport. They built the game. We just got tired of watching good players vanish because nobody could find them. Think of us as the free agency wire the whole sport was missing: one shared network, so opportunity stops depending on knowing the right commissioner, catching the right Facebook post at the right hour, or getting a reply before the season closes without you in it.
A player looking for a team should be visible. A manager looking for players should be able to find them. Adult baseball should not be this hard to join. And yet, somehow, here we are.

Here is the part most mission statements leave out. Creating a profile and browsing the free agent pool costs you nothing. Free as in beer, free as in agency, free as in you can close this tab right now and never owe us a dime.
What is not free is the thing underneath it: the servers that don't sleep, the database that remembers every roster since day one, the tools that help a commissioner run an entire league and a manager handle schedules, rosters, and lineups without losing his mind by August, and the unglamorous, ongoing work of keeping this site from rotting into another abandoned 2014 registration form. Nobody pays to exist here. The people who keep the lights on are the ones who choose a Membership, and in return they get real tools built for players, teams, and leagues who are done waiting on a group text.
