Baseball on Maui carries a longer history than most mainland leagues can claim. Plantation ball was played across the Hawaiian islands from the late nineteenth century, organised by the sugar companies and then by the communities that outlasted them, and the sport has been continuously part of island life ever since. Whatever this league's own founding date, it stands in that line.

Oahu MABL carries twenty-eight teams out of Honolulu, which for a single island is a considerable operation. The site is live and returns a 403 to everything that is not a browser.

Twenty-eight teams on Oahu means the geography does something no mainland league has to think about: there is no next town over.
