Connecticut Baseball Leagues

Every adult baseball league we track in Connecticut: what each one actually is, where it plays, and who to talk to. Written from the leagues’ own words where they still keep words somewhere, and honestly labelled where they do not.

The Connecticut Adult Baseball League runs ten teams: the Chiefs, Badgers, Royals, Diamondbacks, Wombats, Expos, Blue Jays, Pirates, Whalers, and a side called Hoss Dental. Two of those deserve comment. The Whalers keep a hockey team that left Hartford in 1997 alive on a baseball shirt, which is a very Connecticut kind of grudge. And the Wombats are not native to any part of North America.

The 2026 season opens April 12 and runs to an all-star game and home run derby on August 2, at grounds including Henry Park in Vernon and Bill Lee Field in Bloomfield. The league keeps proper statistics, batting averages and ERA and strikeouts, and runs a player of the week poll, with a championship record going back to 2021.

There is an interested players and free agents section for anyone arriving without a team.

  • Stamford
  • Est. 1990
  • 12 teams
  • 25+ and 35+
  • MSBL/MABL

Connecticut MSBL's AM division runs out of Stamford with twelve teams and dates to 1990. The league's site answers browsers and returns a 403 to us, so the divisions and fees are published and unreadable from here.

The odd thing in our records is that we hold two Connecticut MSBL entries, AM out of Stamford and NA out of Hartford, both from 1990, both pointing at the same domain. AM and NA read like American and National, which would make these two conferences of one league rather than two leagues. We have not merged them, because a player driving to the wrong end of Connecticut on a Sunday has been genuinely inconvenienced and the state is only ninety miles wide but the traffic is what it is.

If you run this, tell us whether it is one league in two conferences. We will fix both entries in one go.

  • MSBL/MABL

Connecticut MSBL's NA division is listed out of Hartford, dating to 1990, sharing a domain with the AM division in Stamford. The site is live and closed to us behind a 403.

Two entries, one website, one founding year, and division labels that look exactly like American and National. The most likely reading is that this is a single league split into two conferences, which is a structure MSBL affiliates use often, and our directory has recorded the conferences as separate leagues.

We would rather leave the duplication visible than resolve it by guessing. One email from the league settles it, and we will collapse or keep both accordingly.

The Connecticut Twilight League runs six clubs: the Bristol Shock, CCR Angels, Wethersfield Dodgers, Enfield Patriots, Barile Realty Rockies, and a team simply called The Baseball Dream, which is an 18+ summer collegiate side.

Twilight baseball is a New England institution, played in the evening after the working day, and this league still holds to the setting that gave it the name. Games run in summer at grounds including Muzzy Field in Bristol, a 1912 ballpark with a covered grandstand, and the Summer Classic tournament has been held at Dunkin' Park in Hartford for ten straight years, which is a professional stadium hosting amateurs and glad to.

There is a golf tournament, an all-star game going interleague with the Nutmeg League in 2026, and a free agent sign-up for anyone arriving without a team. A club named Barile Realty tells you exactly how twilight baseball has always been paid for: a local business puts its name on the shirts and the games happen. [email protected].

  • West Haven
  • 5 teams
  • Independent

The West Haven Twilight League has been playing since 1933. That is not a typo and it is not a claim about a predecessor organisation. Ninety-three years, through the Depression, the war, and every subsequent reason a small amateur league might reasonably have folded.

Five teams: All-Brite Electric, J Roo's, Flanagan's, Romano Landscaping, and Baybrook Remodelers. Not one of them is named after a bird or a colour. They are named after the electrician, the bar, the landscaper and the remodelling contractor who pay for the uniforms, which is how amateur baseball was funded in 1933 and, in West Haven, still is. Flanagan's took the 2025 title, its fourth.

They play June through August, mostly at Quigley Stadium, with games at Rochford Field in Hamden and Brinley in Orange. There is a Hot Stove Lunch to open the year, a Bob Greenwood Championship trophy, Gold Bat awards, and the games go out on Facebook Live and GameChanger, which is the twenty-first century arriving politely at a league that predates television. Before you ask

Common questions

  • How many adult baseball leagues are there in Connecticut?

High Cheese currently tracks 5 active adult leagues in Connecticut, carrying 33 teams between them. That is what we can stand behind today, not a claim that nothing else exists. Leagues form in somebody's driveway every spring and tell no one for two years.

  • How do I join a league in Connecticut?

Make a profile and turn the free agent switch on. That is the whole ask. Managers across Connecticut search this pool the week their shortstop discovers a work trip every Saturday through August, and they find whoever put themselves in it. You list what you throw, where you play, how far you will drive. The invitation comes to you. The other route is emailing an address nobody has opened since the last board handover, then waiting.

  • When does the season run in Connecticut?

Season lengths differ by league and are listed with each one below where the league states them. Broadly, amateur baseball is a late-spring-to-early-autumn arrangement, compressed at the northern end of the map into whatever window the weather grudgingly concedes.

  • Which Connecticut towns have leagues?

Leagues on this page are based in Hartford, Stamford, and West Haven. Most draw players from well outside their listed town, so a drive is normal and nobody will think less of you for it.
