Since the inception of baseball
The NSBL's opening claim is the boldest in this directory and it is carefully worded: the league and its predecessors have existed in one form or another since the inception of baseball in the late 1800s. It has historically drawn clubs from the North Shore of Boston to southern New Hampshire, and currently carries twelve teams spanning Lynn to Kingston. It describes itself as highly competitive — most players have played college baseball and many have played professionally — with a 24-game schedule beginning in late May and league playoffs in August.
That is a semi-pro league rather than a recreational one, and its own Hall of Fame backs the claim up: men drafted by the Red Sox, signed by the Tigers, playing professionally in Italy and Holland. High Cheese gives a league one address it owns carrying the schedule, the standings, every roster and the whole archive, so a hundred and thirty years of North Shore baseball sits somewhere it cannot be lost.
