Named for the towns they come from
The league's clubs are the Beverly Recs, Kingston Night Owls, Marblehead Seasiders, North Reading A's, North Shore Phillies, North Shore Storm, Northeast Tides, Peabody Champions, Rowley Nor'Easter and Swampscott Sox, with the Manchester Marlins appearing in its all-league selections. Every one has its own schedule page and its own team page.
Almost all are named for the town they represent — Beverly, Marblehead, North Reading, Peabody, Rowley, Swampscott — which is what a league descended from nineteenth-century town ball looks like. The Swampscott Sox, founded in 1985, have contested seventeen championships. Rosters on High Cheese update as men sign and follow a player between clubs and seasons, so a club with a forty-year dynasty has forty years of names attached to it.
