Boston Park League

About the Boston Park League

Founded 1929 and, by its own account, the oldest amateur baseball league in the United States.

Ninety-seven summers in one city

The Boston Park League calls itself the oldest amateur baseball league in the United States, founded in 1929, and invites you to join it on the ballfields as a player, a manager or one of the thousands of spectators who have watched Park League games.

It did not play under lights until 1961. Local newspapers used to call it the Park Loop. In 1973 it introduced the designated hitter to amateur baseball, and CBS television came up from New York to cover it, which tells you what this league's decisions used to mean.

The current champions are TJO Sports, who won in 2025 after the Extra Innings Braves took 2024. The Yawkey Foundation backs it.

Nothing High Cheese does can add to a league like this. What it can do is make ninety-seven years of it searchable rather than sitting in a Hall of Fame page nobody outside Boston finds.
