Two leagues, twelve clubs, one county
The BABL was established in 2011 to give Berkshire County residents aged 20 and over, and 33 and over, somewhere to play. It runs those as two separate competitions: the 20 League and the 33 League, six clubs in each.
The 20 League is G.B. Millers, Berkshire Thunder, Housatonic River Monsters, Pittsfield Patriots, Greylock Mountaineers and Berkshire Bandits. The 33 League is Tunnel City, Moneymakers, Gremlins, P. Lake Monsters, P. Pirates and Bananas.
Read those names and the county draws itself: Housatonic, Greylock, Pittsfield, Tunnel City. This is a league of towns within about half an hour of each other, and a residency requirement written into its own founding sentence.
High Cheese puts a league like this at an address it owns, with its schedule, standings and rosters in one place instead of behind a rented platform's login.
