Joining the Shasta Baseball League

About thirteen dollars a game, paid to your manager, with the arithmetic explained.

The fee is a calculation, not a number

Shasta explains its fees rather than stating them. They vary each season with the number of teams and scheduled games, but on a thirteen-man roster they generally work out at around thirteen dollars per game per player. As a not-for-profit, the league says it keeps player costs as low as possible while working to increase access to fields for practices and scrimmages.

Payment goes directly to team managers. Where that is not possible, PayPal is available to a league address, using friends and family and a bank account or balance -- because a card incurs a three to five per cent non-refundable service charge. Payments must carry the player's name, his team and the season. And the league warns plainly that a manager may add charges of his own for hats, jerseys and equipment on top of the league fee, so players should confirm the exact amount with him first.

New players attend a skills assessment; one was relocated indoors to a batting cage facility in Anderson because of weather.

That is the most transparent fee explanation in this directory. A High Cheese join page takes the registration and the fee at the league's own address and records what each player has paid against his roster spot, which is the part currently sitting in a manager's phone.
