The best team record in this directory
Shasta publishes a full franchise history for each club: season by season, the win-loss-tie record, the playoff record, a [C] for a championship, the club's former names, and its manager and assistant managers. It does this for teams that no longer exist as well as teams that do.
The Redding Blue Jays are the dynasty. Champions in fall 2018 at 11-1, again in spring 2024 at 10-2, again in fall 2024 at 8-4, and again in spring 2026 at 9-0-1 -- four titles, with a manager, Tom Barto, who is also one of the league's five founders.
The rest of the record is honest about the hard parts. The North State Patriots went 0-10 in 2023, 1-11 in spring 2024, and 3-8 in spring 2026. The Northern California Braves are recorded for fall 2025 as N/A actual, 2-6 adjusted, suspended. Several clubs carry both an ACT and an ADJ record for the same season, so a forfeit or a suspension is shown twice -- what happened on the field and what the standings say.
Name changes are tracked rather than erased: the California Angels played as the Shasta Lake Anglers from 2018 to 2024, the California Knickerbockers as the Redding Browns, Breakout Baseball as the Shasta County Sun Devils. Inactive clubs -- the Redding Young Guns, deactivated at 0-4-1 in fall 2021, the Northern California Mets, the Shasta Lake Rivers -- keep their pages and their records.
Assistant managers are named too, and one man, Robert Portillo, appears as an assistant for three different clubs across the years.
A High Cheese team page belongs to the club rather than the season and carries exactly this -- every year, every record, every name it has played under -- at its own address, so a franchise history becomes something searchable rather than a block of text.
Shasta Baseball League in detail
- Founded in 2018 by five men, run as a not-for-profit, and it breaks for the summer on purpose.
- Four games a Sunday at one field, with the umpires named on every line.
- Records are kept twice — what happened, and what the standings say.
- Every result sits in the schedule table, in the column beside the umpires.
- Team records are kept exhaustively; individual statistics are not published.
- A PO box, a telephone number, and two addresses at the league's own domain.
- About thirteen dollars a game, paid to your manager, with the arithmetic explained.
- Four grounds across three cities, with Wynne Price carrying most of the season.
- Seven innings, 135 minutes, nine-inning playoffs, and a published rulebook.
- An attention banner at the top of the page, used for real changes.
- No gallery is published.
- An ongoing partnership with a service club, and coordination with three little leagues.
- Two playoff games at nine innings with no time limit, then a championship.
- Founded mid-2018 by five named men, with sixteen seasons on record.
- A director and a three-man board, all named.
- Cost, season, game length, fields and why there is no summer baseball.
- A player consent form, required to play, and a rules and regulations document.
- Two seasons and one deliberate gap: no baseball between mid-June and mid-August.
- Hats and jerseys are a team expense, added by the manager on top of league fees.
- Named on every game in the schedule — the only league here that does it.
