Named by winning
The only place PCBL names its clubs is the champions archive, and it names a lot of them: Platoon, the Raptors, the Tigers, the Maniacs and the Cubs in Majors; the Bats, the Smokies, the Barons, the Valley Kings, the Outlaws, the Royals, the Threshers, the Jokers, the Cali Rangers and Doinks and Dingers in AA; the Berserkers, the Crooks, the Pirates, the Wailers, the Venice Mariners, the Valencia Hops, the Drillers, the Oaks, the Hustlers and the Husters in AAA.
Those last two are the same club, spelled two different ways in two different years, which is what an archive kept by hand eventually does to a name.
Doinks and Dingers is also the best team name in this directory, and it belongs to a side that reached a fall final.
None of these clubs has a page. A High Cheese team page belongs to the club rather than to a season, so Platoon's six finals sit at one address with the roster that played them, and a name only gets spelled one way.
