Older than almost anything here
The department dates itself precisely: a Department of Parks was included in the City of Los Angeles's first Freeholder Charter, adopted in 1889, taking jurisdiction over parks and public land set aside for the perpetual use of the community in the original Spanish land grants. Its baseball programme keeps an archive of past schedules, scores and standings behind its own link.
No adult league in this directory can claim a founding document from 1889, and none of the seasons behind that archive link are described. Every season played on High Cheese keeps itself as standings, box scores and rosters together with the champion attached to the year, so a programme run by a department this old accumulates a baseball history to match.
