Forty-eight hours, and a signature
New players register through the league's form for its spring New Player Draft, held at noon at Marietta Bulls Bay Park, 361 Bulls Bay Hwy. Every player must be 18 by his first game — a seventeen-year-old may be rostered but cannot play until his birthday — and is registered MABL from 18 to 27 or MSBL from 28. All forms must be completed, submitted and accepted no less than 48 hours before a first game, and the player must appear on his club's website roster to be eligible. Waiver and liability forms are signed online. Any player who charges back the $50 registration fee is permanently ineligible and his manager is liable for the costs.
Clubs begin the season with sixteen players and pay $50 for each one beyond that. A High Cheese free agent pool keeps every unattached man visible to every manager all season, so a club that loses two players in June fills the roster from the pool rather than by borrowing on the day.
Jacksonville MABL in detail
- Competitive, wood bat, MSBL/MABL affiliate, since 1988 — and governed in extraordinary detail.
- A Games for Today block with no games in it.
- A Current Standings panel on the front page, showing a top five of nobody.
- Two weeks to make up a rainout, and a forfeit for whichever club cannot.
- Sixteen to start, final by June 1, and playing an ineligible man costs a manager his season.
- A Clubhouse and a Current Players section, with nothing published in either.
- A registration form, and no email address, telephone number or name anywhere.
- Seven Duval County parks with street addresses, and one flagged limited use.
- Fourteen sections: run rules, A/B slots, borrowed players, and no white sleeves for pitchers.
- Three articles, all posted the same day, none of them about this league.
- A 2025 Season Teams block and three testimonials — and no photograph.
- Nobody is thanked in public.
- Six league games to be eligible, MABL events at 18-27 and MSBL at 28 and over.
- Since 1988 on the badge, and a History page carrying the national body's boilerplate.
- A President, a Board of Directors, a League Office and a Field and Umpire Director.
- Who and where are answered exhaustively. When and how much are not.
- A fourteen-section rulebook, online waivers, and two borrowed codes.
- A March draft, a Jamboree, fees due June 1, and rosters locked the same day.
- The Hops Store, selling team clothing online.
- One umpire and the game is played; none and it is cancelled — and the Board backs them.
