Ethics, separately from rules
The league keeps four governing documents under its About section: a Rulebook, a Code of Ethics, a Tobacco Use Policy and a Liability Form. A set of COVID-19 guidelines sits alongside them.
Publishing a code of ethics distinct from a rulebook is a decision. Rules govern the game; ethics govern the people, and this league has decided those need separate documents.
A dedicated tobacco use policy in a league playing on Boston-area public grounds is the permit condition made explicit.
Documents belong beside the season they govern. A High Cheese league page keeps the rulebook, the ethics code and the liability form attached to the year in play -- and collects the form at registration rather than chasing it.
