One quote, well chosen
The league keeps a News section, and the piece of writing carrying its front page is a player's own: I had stopped playing softball around 2000, it was fun, but mark this day down because it will be my first game as a member of the 45+ Athletics -- wood bats, real spikes, real leads and baserunning, real pitching.
That is a better recruitment argument than any league copy, and it is attributed by name and team.
A High Cheese league page pushes announcements into the schedule players already carry, so news reaches six divisions across seven cities rather than waiting on a homepage.
