Five grounds, and one of them is a real ballpark
Most games are played at Kelley Field in Bath. The league also names Brunswick High School, Edwards Field in Brunswick, Coombs Field at Colby College and Deering Oaks in Portland — and once or twice a year it plays at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach, a professional-standard park, giving each division a doubleheader there.
Taking men of 45 and 60 to a proper ballpark twice a season is the single best thing this league does, and it is written into the calendar rather than treated as a treat. Its cancellation procedure names the cost of the rest: the President must ring Bath or Brunswick Rec the next business day so the league is not charged for a field it did not use. High Cheese ties the ballpark, the address and the map to the fixture, so the Old Orchard Beach dates are as findable as the Sundays at Kelley.
