Baseball-first, since 1994
The EMSBL was formed in 1994 and has run competitive adult baseball in the Eugene and Springfield area ever since, affiliated to the national MSBL. Its own description is unusually plain about what it is selling: wood bats, real uniforms, structured league play and a strong baseball-first atmosphere, for players who still genuinely love the game. Eight teams play Sundays from June to early September — seven-inning doubleheaders in the first half, nine-inning single games during division play, then full playoffs involving all eight.
It also draws well beyond the metro, naming Cottage Grove, Harrisburg, Pleasant Hill and Roseburg/Glide as places its players come from. A league pulling men in from an hour out in four directions is exactly the case for the one address High Cheese gives it: the schedule, the standings, every roster and every field in the one place a man in Roseburg checks on Saturday night.
