The only one for two hundred miles
The Flathead league was founded in 2025 by its commissioner and is, by its own account, Western Montana's only adult wood-bat baseball league. It states the reason it had to exist: the next nearest leagues are in Spokane and Bozeman, and men in Kalispell, Columbia Falls, Whitefish and Missoula had nowhere to keep playing. It is affiliated to the national MSBL/MABL, which gives its players entry to eight-plus national and regional tournaments a year up to the World Series in Tempe.
Now in its second season it fields four teams and about fifty-two players, runs an 18+ division on weekends, and plans a 30+ weeknight division for 2027 so eligible men can play in both. Its offer is nine words: wood bats, two umpires, and nine innings all summer. High Cheese gives a league one address it owns carrying the schedule, the standings, the stats and every roster, so a competition built from nothing in one valley has a record from its first season.
