A full season, written properly
The recaps cover every game. Opening day ended with a walk-off grand slam that took the Showmen past the Suckers 12-9. Week seven produced a scoreless nine innings between the Metropolitans and the Locos, decided in the tenth by an infield error, giving the Mets their first win of the season and a field invasion to go with it. The Eliminator round ran twelve innings between the Mets and the Showmen after a 450-foot grand slam landed next to Meador Pool. The Season X championship on October 19 went to the Moon City Mavericks 2-1 over the Ozark Mountain Ducks, decided on the final out with the tying and winning runs on base.
That is a season of real baseball writing about grown men in southwest Missouri, and it is all typed out by hand under the standings. A league on High Cheese gets a wire where finals post themselves as the books are finalized, so the writer arrives at Sunday night with the results already assembled and only the story left to tell.
