Counted in seasons, not years
The league numbers its years in Roman: Season XI runs in 2026, from a start in January 2015. Its own headline figures for the decade are 250-plus wood bat games played, 800-plus players who have worn a GRBL roster, and 3,000-plus spectators a year. Season V brought in the Town Ball Era and the six township clubs. Champions are recorded through the recaps — the Springfield Metropolitans went back to back in 2022 and 2023, the Moon City Mavericks took Season X — and the title game itself is named the Howard Bell Championship.
A league that names its championship after somebody, numbers its seasons and counts its own attendance is building a record on purpose. Every season played on High Cheese keeps itself as standings, box scores and rosters together with the winner attached to the year, so the eleventh season arrives with the ten before it still readable.
