Two games guaranteed, and no clock
The season ends in a single-elimination tournament with a two-game guarantee, which is the league quietly admitting that a team should not drive out, lose once and be finished. Tournament games are played in full: the three-hour limit and the tie rules that govern the regular season do not apply, though the run rules do -- ten after seven, fifteen after six.
League officials supply the game balls for the tournament rather than the teams, and exhausted balls get replaced with new ones instead of used ones. That is a small detail and a telling one: the postseason is treated as a different standard of occasion.
No champion is named anywhere on the site, in twenty-plus years. A title recorded on a High Cheese league page keeps the bracket, the final and the winning roster attached to its season, so a two-game guarantee eventually adds up to a list of winners.
