Ten clubs, one hundred kilometres apart
The Western Conference carries the Martingrove Sox, the Milton Orioles, the Vaughan Vikings, the Mississauga Southwest Twins and the York Diamonds. The Eastern carries the Clarington Cubs, the Port Hope Flyers and the Whitby Canadians, with the Markham Mariners and Bowmanville Dodgers also in the results.
The geography is the story. A Sunday in this league can mean Martingrove driving to Clarington Fields, or Port Hope coming west to Erindale in Mississauga -- close to a hundred kilometres each way for a doubleheader.
Club names in this league also outlive their teams: the Whitby Chiefs won three titles and the Whitby Canadians have won three more, the Vikings have four, the Dragons three. A High Cheese team page belongs to the club rather than to a season, so a Vaughan Vikings page carries 2016, 2021 and 2024 at one address, along with whoever is on the roster this year.
