One payment per team, not per player
The league sets out how money moves: individual players do not pay the NWIBL. The league collects a single payment from each team's manager, who is responsible for collecting from his players, and a new man works out jerseys, hats and league fees with his manager after joining. The tryout carries its own fee, explained by the cost of renting fields, buying baseballs and covering maintenance and staff.
Collecting once from twenty-six managers rather than chasing three hundred players is the only way a volunteer league of this size stays solvent — and it means the league never publishes what a player actually pays. High Cheese keeps registration, payment and the roster in the same place, so a manager collecting from twenty men is not also keeping the ledger.
