Northwest Independent Baseball League Questions

Eleven questions, answered as a person would answer them.

Wait, this is softball right?

The FAQ opens by answering the question every adult baseball league gets and none of the others print: no, this is baseball — wood bats, pine tar, helmets, cleats, catchers' gear, umpires, America's pastime. It then works through the ones that actually stop people: the season runs late April to August with playoffs into September; most teams play one game a week, occasionally two; each league plays 14 to 16 regular season games. On missing games it is disarming — we're all busy, but we make it work; all managers build their rosters assuming guys will miss games for family trips, summer vacations, camping trips and weddings.

It even explains why the tryout costs money: the NWIBL doesn't own fields, so it has to rent them, buy baseballs and cover maintenance and staff. Nobody else in this directory justifies a fee to a stranger before he asks. High Cheese attaches answers like these to a live schedule, standings and roster per club, so an FAQ this good is the front of a working league rather than the whole of it.
