Amateur Baseball Association

Amateur Baseball Association Rules

Wood and metal divisions, sorted by skill level as well as age.

Two bats, several standards

The league runs multiple skill levels across both wood and metal bat divisions, alongside its 18+ and 35+ age split. That is the whole of the published rulebook.

Splitting on bat and on skill rather than age alone is the single most useful thing a league of this size can do, because the complaint that ends adult baseball careers is not losing, it is being outclassed by twenty-two-year-olds every Sunday for four months.

The detail of how those levels are set is not published anywhere a prospective player can read.

High Cheese keeps a league's own rules beside its schedule, so a player choosing between a wood division and a metal one can see what he is choosing.
