Two ways a league gets bigger
The SSBL runs out of Harvest, Alabama, just west of Huntsville, and its 2024 season fielded eleven teams in a 25-and-over division and four in a 40-and-over.
Its own account of expansion is the most useful sentence any league in this directory has written about itself: the two ways our league grows is with the addition of a totally new team, or when a group of players from one or more teams splinter off and begin a new team.
That is a president who has watched it happen for years and has stopped pretending recruiting individuals is what builds a league. He follows it with an open invitation to anyone contemplating starting a club in either division.
Its 2025 note expected at least one new 40+ team and twenty-plus new players.
All of it sits on a rented platform beside an arcade and a coupons page. A High Cheese league page keeps the schedule, the standings and every roster at an address the league owns, so a fifteen-team competition's record belongs to it.
