Word of mouth, documented
The league publishes no fee, deadline, tryout or registration form. Its own reporting describes how people actually get in: Ben Muniz found out about it and joined the Green Wave; Ken Walsh heard about it from the league president and turned up to a practice at Winslow High at fifty-five.
That is a league growing by conversation, which works and which caps it at the reach of eighteen managers' acquaintances.
A join page with the fee on it and a free agent pool underneath, at the league's own address, is what a High Cheese league page adds -- and for a competition already carrying eighteen clubs across half of Maine, the men who would join are out there and have nowhere to raise their hand.
