Four steps before anybody plays
The league's playoff clarification sets out how a tie for a postseason place is resolved: percentage points first, then head to head, then runs against, and only then a single playoff game. Its bylaws carry a parallel section for three-way ties.
Putting a decisive extra game at the end of the chain rather than the start is the right instinct for a seven-club league where nobody wants an eighth Sunday. The league notes it had never had to use it. High Cheese builds and runs a bracket off the standings a season produced and applies a league's own tiebreak order, so a chain four steps deep resolves itself.
