Everybody gets two lives
The season ends in a double elimination tournament rather than a single-game final — twenty regular season games to get there, and then two defeats to go out.
Double elimination is the fairest format for a league where a club might have played its best baseball in June, and it is a real commitment of Sundays in October to run. The league's news archive records its champions by year. High Cheese builds and runs a bracket off the standings the season already produced, including double elimination, so the tournament seeds itself the moment the twentieth Sunday is final.
