The free agent list is the front door
The league's front page carries one action above all others: Get on the Free Agent List Today. Its news archive shows the same appeal going out ahead of each season — free agent calls posted in December and February for the following year. Players pay yearly league fees plus team uniform fees, and provide all their own equipment.
Leading with the free agent list rather than a team entry form is the right priority for a league in a state with one metro area: the man reading is far more likely to be alone than to have a club. What the page cannot show him is which of the teams is short and in which division. A High Cheese free agent pool runs on the league's own page all season, so a man registering in February is visible to every manager in both divisions from the day he signs.
