A race with no finish line published
The league keeps a games-behind column in its standings, which is the machinery of a race for something. No playoff, bracket, format, date or champion is published for any of its thirty-four seasons.
For a recreational league that may be the honest answer — the point is Wednesday, not October — but a four-club table with two sides tied for second deserves to end somewhere. High Cheese builds and runs a bracket off the standings the season already produced, so a league can add a postseason without adding any work.
