Greater Toronto Baseball League

Joining the Greater Toronto Baseball League

Clubs apply in person at the AGM; players sign an OBA card and go through their coach.

Two doors, and neither is a form

A club seeking entry must apply in person at the Annual General Meeting with information on park availability, its player roster and its past success, plus proper release information. Entry is a majority vote of the clubs in good standing, followed by a one-year probation reviewed at the next annual meeting — which may be extended another year. A player must sign an OBA or team registration card for insurance and be approved by the OBA and TBA, and the league's contact page tells new players plainly to go to the team coaches.

A prospective player therefore has to already know a coach. That is the gap a High Cheese free agent pool closes — an unattached man visible to all seven clubs on the league's own page, all season, without needing an introduction first.
