Chippewa River Baseball League North Division

About the Chippewa River Baseball League North Division

Half of a river league, with no address, in the best amateur baseball state in America.

The north half of a river

Our directory holds the Chippewa River Baseball League twice -- a North Division and a South Division -- and neither has an address of any kind.

Wisconsin matters here more than most states. Town team baseball there is a genuine institution, played on village fields by grown men in front of actual crowds, with a state tournament that has run for the better part of a century. A river league splitting north and south is that tradition, exactly.

None of it is published anywhere we can reach.

That is a substantial amount of Wisconsin baseball with no public record, in the one part of the country where the sport at this level still draws people who are not related to the players.

A High Cheese league page gives each division a permanent address with the schedule, the standings and every roster rendered as pages -- so a hundred years of village baseball is legible to somebody who did not grow up in the village.
