Cancelled for air quality
The league's 2026 updates are dated and specific, and the first of them is a sentence no league in this directory outside the Pacific Northwest would need to write: all 35+ and 50+ games cancelled today due to air quality.
Oregon summers now come with wildfire smoke, and a league playing weeknights under lights has to make that call in the afternoon.
Three weeks earlier came a field policy reminder, and it is worth quoting for its firmness: WVMBL fields are alcohol-free at all times -- no exceptions. Smoking and vaping are also strictly prohibited anywhere inside the main park. Where designated smoking or tobacco areas are available, they are located away from the fields; please use these if provided. Thanks for helping us keep the ball parks safe and family-friendly for all players and fans.
And in June: registration is closed, feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
A High Cheese league page pushes a cancellation into the schedule every affected player already carries, which for an air-quality call made hours before a weeknight game is the only channel fast enough.
