Written as a welcome, not a chronicle
The league's history page tells you why it exists rather than what happened. It began in 1988 with players who wanted the game to carry on past school, grew from a handful of teams, and now takes everyone from seasoned veterans to men rediscovering the sport. Its members, it says, often describe the league as a second family.
It also claims a civic role -- supporting local baseball culture, running community events, keeping the spirit of the game alive in Pensacola -- and closes by inviting anyone reading to join on the field, in the stands, or online.
What it never does is name a year, a champion or a team. Thirty-eight seasons and not a single result recorded on the page that is meant to hold them.
Seasons kept on a High Cheese league page accumulate on their own -- every champion, roster and result at the league's own address -- so a fortieth anniversary can point at thirty-eight seasons rather than at a paragraph about camaraderie.
