Inland Northwest MABL/MSBL

Inland Northwest Men's Baseball League Umpires

An Umpire Coordinator, a two-hour rain deadline, and a bill if you miss it.

Miss the call, pay the crew

The rulebook puts the umpires at the centre of its weather policy. In rain, the home club must notify the league president, the Umpire Coordinator and the opposing manager at least two hours before first pitch. Fail to and that club alone is liable for any travel and game fees the umpiring organization charges, and may forfeit. Once a game starts the umpire decides whether it continues, with rain delays capped at forty minutes, and the umpire may stop play whenever conditions are unsuitable.

Charging a club for a crew that drove to an unplayable field is the only rule of its kind in this directory, and it exists because somebody paid that bill once. On High Cheese the crew attaches to the fixture and a cancellation reaches everybody at once, which is the cheapest possible version of that two-hour phone call.
