Eight clubs with actual characters
The Pirates are the longest-standing franchise, veteran and composed. The Spruce are led by a Hall of Fame manager and were City Series runners-up in both 2024 and 2025. The Eielson AFB Icemen are built around a tight group from the air base and expect to play deep into every postseason. The Fuegos — Cienfuegos — started in 2025, chirp from the dugout, and surged into the playoffs after a bad opening stretch. The Misfits formed out of an overflow at tryouts and made a season of it. Two clubs are new for 2026: the Arctic Angels, Fort Wainwright's answer to Eielson, and the Wild, an American Legion side stepping up. The 2026 standings the league publishes also carry a 49ers.
Nobody else in this directory writes about its clubs like this, and none of it is attached to a roster — no player is named anywhere. Rosters on High Cheese update as men sign and follow a player between clubs and seasons, so a write-up that good ends up on a page with the twenty-five names it is describing.
