Dedicated to preserving amateur baseball in the City of Chicago
That is the league's own line, and the word doing the work is preserving. Not growing, not promoting. Preserving.
Five clubs play in it: Electrons, Hounds, Blazers, White Sox and Hawks, with an 8 Ballers side also appearing in its results. Almost every fixture is at Winnemac Park on the north side, with the occasional game at Piotrowski Park on the southwest.
A league that plays nearly all its baseball on one set of diamonds inside the city limits is a league defending a foothold. City parks are contested ground, and holding a permit at Winnemac year after year is most of what keeps this going.
High Cheese gives a league its own address with the schedule, the table and the record on it, which for an organization whose stated job is preservation is the part that has to outlast whoever is currently holding the permit.
