Arizona NABA

About Arizona NABA

Fourteen teams in the East Valley, founded 2017, playing two seasons a year under the lights.

Rookies at eighteen, veterans past sixty

Arizona NABA was established in 2017 and now carries fourteen clubs: Arizona Heat, Arizona Snakes, AZ Dogs, AZ Whitecaps, Little Rascals, Mesa Miners, Red Mountain Rascals, Renegades, Saguaro Sluggers, Scottsdale Mariners, Sidewinders, Sonoran Smashers, Troon Monsoons and ValleyCats. It sorts them into multiple divisions by age and skill, and says it takes players from 18-year-old rookies to seasoned 60-plus veterans.

It runs two seasons. Summer is mid May through August, ten regular season games. Winter is October through March, fifteen games and then playoffs. Most of it is played under the lights on weekday evenings at fields around the East Valley, which is the only sane way to schedule baseball in Phoenix.

This is one of the better-organized leagues in the directory and it still keeps its standings, its schedule and its statistics as three separate things somebody maintains. On High Cheese they are one thing: a result entered once moves the table, the schedule and every player's numbers at the same time.
