Lehigh Valley MABL/MSBL Documents

Two rulebooks, bylaws, Hall of Fame criteria and a code of conduct reminder.

Written down, and split by age

The league publishes five documents on its front page: Over 18 rules, a separate set for Over 45 and Over 60, its bylaws, its Hall of Fame criteria, and a code of conduct reminder.

Writing two rulebooks — one for the youngest division and one shared by the two oldest — is the right structural call, because a 60+ game and an 18+ game are different sports played to the same scorebook. Publishing the Hall of Fame criteria is rarer still: it means an induction is an argument somebody can check rather than a decision taken in a room.

Alongside them sits something no other league in this directory has published: a full clinical brief on heat injury, contributed by a league doctor. It separates heat fatigue, cramps, exhaustion and stroke, gives the symptoms and the treatment for each, notes that performance drops with as little as one percent fluid loss and that acclimation takes seven to fourteen days, and is blunt about prevention — leave the beer alone the day before, and you should need to urinate at least twice during a game. For a league whose oldest division is 60 and over, playing in a Pennsylvania August, that is the most useful document on the site. High Cheese keeps a league's documents beside the schedule and against the rosters, so a heat brief is attached to the games it was written for.
