Edmonton Baseball League Rules

Five-run innings, wood bats only, four innings per pitcher, and two umpires at every game.

The most complete rulebook here

A maximum of five runs per half inning except the last, which the home plate umpire declares when thirty minutes remain and which plays open. Seven innings in the regular season, nine in the playoffs. Wood bats only. Every present player bats, in an order kept consistent all season. A pitcher throws a maximum of four innings or twelve outs, and comes out if he hits three batters. A ball that bounces over the boundary is an automatic double. Ties go to a runner on second with one out, and a game still tied is one point each. Fewer than eight players is a forfeit, though captains may play it anyway with the score and the stats not counting. Every man in the batting order must be registered, without exception, because the league's insurance says so.

That last rule is the one that costs leagues money when it slips, and it is exactly what a High Cheese roster does automatically — a registered, signed, insurable list a captain can check on his phone at the plate meeting instead of hoping.
