From sandlot to league
The EBL began in 2021 as a grassroots initiative under the Edmonton Sandlot Baseball Society, on the idea that baseball should be fun, accessible and open to everyone. In the early days there were no strict uniforms and no intense standings — camaraderie, mixed skill levels, and players learning from each other.
In 2024 it rebranded as the Edmonton Baseball League to reflect an expanding reach, and now blends the laid-back sandlot feel with enough competition to keep games interesting. Five seasons is the point where a league starts wanting its own record of them, and every season played on High Cheese keeps itself as standings, box scores and rosters together, so year six arrives with the five before it still readable.

- Five-run innings, wood bats only, four innings per pitcher, and two umpires at every game.
