Two ways of sorting people
The league's four competitions are MUNY AA / AAA, 35+, 45+ and 55+. The first sorts on standard, the other three on age.
That mixed structure is the honest answer to a real problem. Age brackets work above 35 because bodies converge; below it they do not, and a league that puts a 22-year-old former college pitcher in with a 25-year-old who last played in high school loses one of them. Grading AA and AAA fixes it.
