Parity, stated as the goal three times
DCMSBL calls itself the largest adult amateur baseball league and wood bat league in the DC metro, Maryland and Virginia area, and it explains its structure in terms of one objective: age groups are divided into various leagues and divisions in an attempt to keep competitive parity between teams.
It says it twice more in the same paragraph -- the goal is to keep competitive parity between teams in each league and within each age division.
Six age groups carry it: 18+, 30+, 38+, 48+, 58+ and 68+. The season starts in early April and ends by mid-August, including single-elimination playoffs for each age group and a best-of-three championship series, and every team takes part in the postseason.
That last clause is the parity principle applied at the end of the year as well as the start of it: nobody's season ends in July.
A league of six brackets across three jurisdictions needs its record in one place. A High Cheese league page keeps the schedule, the standings and every roster at an address the league owns.
